Game of Thrones Route in Southwest Spain
Día 1116hCastle of Almodóvar del Río1Day 116:00hCastle of Almodóvar del Río
Although it only appeared for a few moments in Game of Thrones, this spectacular castle is a real eye-opener. This is where the final encounter between Lady Olenna Tyrell and Jaime Lannister took place, with one of the most mythical deaths in the series. The producers liked this castle so much that they also used it to shoot other sequences.
19hRoman Bridge of Cordoba2Day 119:00hRoman Bridge of Cordoba
This bridge served to briefly situate us in the exotic city of Volantis in two chapters of the series.
In Cordoba there are also places that are very worthwhile, such as the Mosque-Cathedral and the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos.
Día 2310hOld Osuna Bullring (Seville)3Day 210:00hOld Osuna Bullring (Seville)
We traveled from Cordoba to Osuna (Seville) to visit the location of one of the biggest confrontations of the end of the fifth season, with Drogon as the great protagonist.
12hRoyal Shipyards of Seville4Day 212:00hRoyal Shipyards of Seville
This beautiful gothic-neomudejar building became the dungeons of Desembarco del Rey in several chapters (Important note: It has been closed indefinitely for many months, so a visit to this place will depend on its reopening to the public).
In Seville there are countless places to visit: from the Cathedral, to the Plaza de España, to several palaces or the Parque de María Luisa. You can extend your visit to Seville by several days to make the most of your trip.
16hReal Alcázar de Sevilla5Day 216:00hReal Alcázar de Sevilla
One of the most famous Game of Thrones locations in Spain, as it became Dorne for the entire fifth season.
Día 369hRuins of the Amphitheatre of Italica, Santiponce (Seville)6Day 39:00hRuins of the Amphitheatre of Italica, Santiponce (Seville)
These ruins became Dragon Well, the setting for several key scenes in the series. In fact, it was one of the moments when most of the main characters in the series coincided.
16hLos Barruecos7Day 316:00hLos Barruecos
From Santiponce we travel to Cáceres. The first stop is on the outskirts, in the town of Malpartida de Cáceres. This is the Los Barruecos Natural Monument. Here was filmed one of the most epic battles of the series: the Battle of the Dragon, which confronted the armies Lannister and Targaryen. Do you remember who won?
19hHistorical Centre of Cáceres8Day 319:00hHistorical Centre of Cáceres
Cáceres became Desembarco del Rey and Antigua in several scenes of the seventh season of Game of Thrones.
Cáceres es tan bonita y pequeña, que recomiendo dejarse perder y disfrutar de sus calles medievales.
10hTrujillo Castle9Day 310:00hTrujillo Castle
The castle of one of the most beautiful villages in Spain became the King's Landing in a scene from the seventh season. It featured James and Bronn, who watched as the Immaculates arrived threateningly in the capital.
Trujillo is also very worthwhile, so I recommend taking advantage of the day to visit it.
Before you travel
To avoid problems at the last minute, find your accommodation well in advance of your trip.
