Cabo de Creus: A natural wonder

Rent a campervan in Barcelona and drive to Collioure, a small French village that lies on the Spanish border. Head to the lighthouse where you will spend the first night.

• Sleep at the Phare du Cap Bear. At this lighthouse, located at the top of the cape, you’ll find nature in its purest form. It’s a truly unique experience. 

Visit the farmers market to browse and buy local produce, stop by the port but, above all, wander the quaint colorful streets of the town center with an art gallery on every corner. 

• I recommend a visit to the Château Royal de Collioure, a medieval palace that boasts a beautiful 17th century tower at sea level.

Have a late morning snack of mussels and a glass of wine at Casa Gala. This small terrace is on a charming street in the town center that is home to many artists.

• Casa Gala, a small tavern with Catalan products and tapas. A perfect stop to try the local mussels.

Eat fresh fish at Le Poisson Rouge, an idyllic restaurant with an outdoor terrace on the seashore.

• Le Poisson Rouge is highly recommended and serves a combination of good food with sea views that will delight you.

Wine tasting in an exceptional location on the beachfront, followed by a dip in the sea.

• I recommend visiting the Les Clos de Paulilles, a vineyard with views of the Mediterranean sea.

The winding road offers views overlooking Cerbere, so we recommend you stop to appreciate the cliffs as you decide on a spot to stop for the second night.

• Stop for dinner along the way at a beach bar: Le bout du monde 

We take a morning dip at the beaches of Cala Cativa or Cala Fornells and go scuba diving to explore the seabed.Nos damos un baño matutino en Cala Cativa o Cala Fornells y buceamos disfrutando del fondo marino.

We rented a kayak at Port Lligat and set off toward the coves of Cap De Creus. 24 hours in a kayak.

While one of you pitches the tent to spend the night, the other can prepare an exquisite dinner of cheeses and French wine in a magical cove as the sun sets.

Take an early dip and head to Cala Jugadora to make the most of its calm waters and explore its marine life. We saw an octopus. 

• I recommend Cala Jugadora given its abundance of fish and the extraordinary colors of its crystal clear and very clean waters.

Enjoy kayaking through the coves of Cap de Creus to Cova de l’Infern.

• The Cova de l’Infern is a sea cave, a passageway or tunnel that is truly impressive; its name “Cave of Hell” supposedly comes from the red color of the water inside the cave that is visible at the first rays of sunrise, making it look like the “gateway to Hell.”

Bid farewell to Cap de Creus and bask in the rose-colored sunset with extraordinary views and live music at Bar Sa Freu. The food is also pretty good.
