Located in the Marina Alta, Jávea is one of the most beautiful towns on the Costa Blanca and we are lucky enough to live there. In this Alicante destination you can perfectly combine the beach and the mountains, something that always appeals. The best thing about this plan? Because of the climate of the area, it can be done at any time of the year.
Jávea from the heights
Discover the charm of the Alicante town of Jávea from the Montgó, some of its most emblematic viewpoints and its beaches.
Día 118hClimbing the Montgó1Day 18:00hClimbing the Montgó
It is best to do it in the morning, before the sun gets too hot. Although from a distance it looks like a bare rock, when you approach the Montgó Natural Park you have the opportunity to discover some of its more than 650 species of plants and, if you are lucky, some of its fauna. Cormorants, hawks or scandalous seagulls among the rocks or in the sky, bats in the caves and at our feet hedgehogs, rabbits and rodents. Leaving the surface and entering the water that caresses the Montgó, rays, moray eels, sea urchins and sea tomatoes complete the marine reserve. Take some lunch with you and don't forget to bring water. The Montgó is deceptive, it looks like a small mountain but it is an intense hike. Park the car at the Denia shooting range and from there the path is signposted, you can't miss it.
During the ascent you will discover the villages surrounding the Montgó, so stop from time to time to rest and contemplate the horizon... To the north Denia and its port. To the south Jávea and inland Jesús Pobre and Gata de Gorgos. If for some reason you don't feel fit or motivated, a shorter and easier alternative is to visit Els Molins, a viewpoint which you can reach on foot without too much effort, although the views are, of course, less impressive.
12hVisit to the Mirador del Cabo de San Antonio.2Day 112:00hVisit to the Mirador del Cabo de San Antonio.
Although the views are quite similar to those of the previous excursion, don't miss the opportunity to stop and enjoy them again.
On clear days with good visibility, you can even see neighbouring Ibiza from this viewpoint.
13hDining with a sea view3Day 113:00hDining with a sea view
This is one of the busiest beaches in Jávea, especially in summer. It is not the most beautiful of them all, but it is the one where you will find the most places to eat. There are countless bars and restaurants in this area, so the best thing to do is to stroll around and stop off at the one that takes your fancy. You can also take the opportunity to take a dip, if the weather is good.
16hViewpoints of Jávea4Day 116:00hViewpoints of Jávea
Cap de la Nau and Les pesqueres viewpoints. These are two of the many viewpoints in this town and both are very close to each other, which is why we recommend these two. The colours of the sky are especially beautiful at sunset.
Other viewpoints in Jávea are: els Molins, Cap Negre, Cap de la nau or Creu del Portitxol.

In this area you can relax by taking a short walk. You will see that many people take the opportunity to walk along this stretch at sunset, some for pure pleasure and others to get some exercise.
Even if you have a bit of a walk, if you're dying for a Thai beer or a som tam (papaya salad), stop off at the Monzoon thai restaurant.
19hOld town6Day 219:30hOld town
The old quarter of Jávea is one of the most attractive places in this town. It's the common tonic in the area, a labyrinth of narrow streets with white façades and plants everywhere. We always like to go there at sunset and end up having dinner there.
Once there, you will see that there are many restaurants and that they all attract attention. It is difficult to choose. Of the ones we have visited, we especially recommend l'Embruix and Tasca la Rebotica, but first you can go to Plaça de Baix to have a drink in a little terrace.
Before you travel
- Take some food in your backpack to climb Montgó. Don't get overconfident thinking that it is a small mountain.
- Take hiking shoes for the morning activities and more comfortable clothes for the afternoon.
