New Zealand's must-see road trip

At the northern tip of the South Island, more precisely in Golden Bay, lies a coastal paradise called Abel Tasman National Park. It's an ideal place to explore in at least one day. You can explore the park by land, water or air. We chose to rent a kayak, visit several of the beautiful beaches, and then walk back.

Inside the park there are no places to buy supplies, so we recommend you bring plenty of water and healthy, nutritious food. One of the most accessible seal colonies in New Zealand with beautiful panoramic views throughout. The track is of moderate difficulty.

• There are no food and drink outlets on the premises, but just a few minutes away is the West Coast town with supermarkets, food and drink and even a beautiful free campsite right next to the beach (https://goo.gl/maps/xGsz5fSRTTugPhx89). Continuing south for an hour, the not-so-popular pancake rocks in Paparoa National Park have a different appeal to anything we've seen in Kiwi country. It is an area of highly eroded limestone where the sea bursts through several vertical holes. The entire walk along these walkways takes about 1 hour.

2 hours further south is Hokitika Gorge. A beautiful track with beautiful views during the 2 hour drive.

With a wide variety of tourist activities, gastronomy and mountains to fall in love with, Queenstown demonstrates in every metre why it is so coveted by tourists. Much like the city of Bariloche in Argentina, we recommend walking it for at least 2 days.

And the other beautiful view is to take the chairlift up and get a view of the whole of Queenstown (https://goo.gl/maps/gNSrhEktNB8EuXNZ8). Another must-do in town is to eat the spectacular Fergburger burgers (https://g.page/fergburger?share). 

The drive to Milford Sound is 3.5 hours south, but you'll want to stop for photos every 15 minutes, so expect the drive to take about 5 hours, plus the 2 hour ferry ride, a must do tour, with views of waterfalls, dolphins and maybe penguins if you're lucky.
